Our Books
What kind of books does Cadarga Press produce?
Our focus is on producing books that seek to apply the truths of Scripture to people's souls. We hope and pray that the Spirit of God will use these books to draw readers into a deeper love for Christ and a closer walk with Him. At the moment, our range is small, but we hope to produce a selection of biographies, Puritan titles, church history works and Biblical commentaries in the future (DV). Our books are available in both paperback and ebook format (PDF), with some titles also available in hardcover.
Are your books just reprints of digital scans, or OCR'd copies of older works?
No. Almost all of our books are newly re-typeset editions of public domain works. They contain modern fonts, and are beautifully laid out in accordance with current formatting conventions. We correct any typos that we find in the original work. In many cases, we also break up long pages of text in the original editions into smaller sections with their own section headings. We strive to make the internal layout of each book both beautiful in appearance and functional for the modern reader.
Every book we produce is carefully proof-read, however, it is possible that some errors may escape our notice. We trust our readers will forgive any such oversights. If you do happen to find a major error, please get in contact with us, and we will endeavour to correct it as soon as possible.
We do currently have one title that is a facsimile edition, which contains digital scans of a book originally published in the 19th century. Though it too has been carefully checked and aligned, it still retains some of the minor imperfections present in the original scans.
Are any of your books Smyth-sewn?
We would love to offer premium quality, cloth-covered, Smyth-sewn books with library binding, but this is currently impossible with low-run print-on-demand books. Most of our books are paperbacks that are 'perfect bound' with strong adhesive along the spine. Our hardbacks are 'hardcover case-wraps' that are bound in a similar way to the paperbacks. More information about Lulu's binding styles can be found here.
Do you offer any of your books for free?
Yes! All of our titles are available as free PDF downloads without you needing to sign up for anything! Just look for the relevant link on each book's product page. There is also no mark-up on any of our print books, meaning that you only pay for the cost of production and shipping. They are great value for those who prefer to read from a physical copy.
We make no profit from any of our books - digital or physical. You can read more about our policy here.
Ordering
How do I buy a book from Cadarga Press? I don't see any prices or shopping cart!
Cadarga Press doesn't sell any books directly from its website. This is why you don't see any prices listed on the product pages. Instead, we sell all of our titles through the Lulu bookstore. To make a purchase, click on the particular format you want under the Buy From Lulu heading on the product page. This link will take you to the corresponding listing on the Lulu bookstore, where you can then add the item to your shopping cart.
What is Lulu?
Lulu is an online platform which prints books "on-demand". In other words, a physical copy of a book is printed and shipped only when an order is received. For more information about Lulu, visit their About Us page.
How can I find out the price of a particular book?
The price of each book can be found by clicking on the Buy From Lulu heading on its product page. At the Lulu bookstore, you will see the price displayed near the top of the page in the relevant currency.
Are your books available through other online book retailers apart from Lulu?
No. While selling our books through other retailers would greatly maximize our exposure and make our books more widely available, it would also significantly increase the cost of every book. We want our books to be as reasonably priced and affordable for as many people as possible.
Does Lulu supply my personal details to Cadarga Press when I make a purchase?
No. Lulu does not provide us with any of your personal details. We do not know the identity of anyone who purchases our books on the Lulu bookstore.
Shipping
How long will it take for my books to be printed and shipped?
Lulu estimates that most orders will be manufactured and shipped within 3 to 5 business days.
Where do Cadarga Press books ship from?
Lulu has printers in a range of locations throughout the world, including the US, the UK, Europe, Australia and India. Usually, your book will be shipped from the printer nearest your location. Thus, the vast majority of orders will be manufactured locally.
Why does Lulu's shipping costs sometimes seem a bit expensive?
Apart from the weight of your order, shipping costs will be largely affected by the location where you book is printed. Typically, these costs will be more if Lulu doesn't have a printer based in your country.
Also, if the printer in your country doesn't support the format you ordered, your book will have to be manufactured overseas. For example, the Lulu printer in Australia fulfills orders for paperback books, but not hardcovers. This can result in significant shipping costs for Australian residents who wish to order hardcover books.
